Purple Hare's Fur Bound-Rim Jian Tea Bowl
$35.80
A masterpiece of Jianyang kiln artistry, this Jian tea bowl (建盏) showcases the prized Hare's Fur glaze (兔毫釉) — fine, hair-like silver and golden streaks radiating outward from a deep, inky center, created by iron oxide separating during high-temperature wood firing. The rich purple-black base glaze gives this piece a dramatic depth that shifts in different light.
The classic bound-rim form (束口盏) — with its subtly inward-folded lip — was the favored cup of Song Dynasty tea masters and scholars, designed to prevent the tea from spilling during whisking. Today it remains a defining vessel of Kung Fu tea culture.
